Fizzy Purple Cows

To celebrate all that we have learned about matter, we did one last experiment. We made fizzy purple cows! What is a fizzy purple cow? It is just a root beer float with grape soda instead of root beer. The students decided that the ice cream was a solid, the soda was a liquid, and the bubbles were a gas. I was very impressed with how quickly the students realized the bubbles were a gas.

Experimenting with Matter

We did an experiment with corn starch this past week! We discussed whether the corn starch and water mixture was a solid or a liquid. We learned that it was actually both! When students reflected on the experiment, a lot of them said they liked it because they got messy.

The cleaning helpers!

Damian and Yurem had already done this experiment and brought it in to share with us!

Spring Fun

The students enjoyed bringing in their bags with solids, liquids, and/or gases! They had fun sharing what they brought. Thanks for your help with that!

We enjoyed seeing Anya's fun socks the other day!

The students had fun reading with partners today!

Spring Fun!

We have been doing experiments with matter. We have learned about liquids, solids, and gases. We learned that states of matter can change. We made some jello to observe the different ways matter changes.

Today we have enjoyed reading with our flashlights. We also made a craft!

WILL Bus

We had the amazing opportunity to spend part of a day on the science bus! We learned about soil. We made observations and thought like a scientist during our time on the bus. The students learned a lot!

Valentine's Day

We are so thankful to the parents who sent supplies in and helped with our party! The students had a wonderful time!

Informational Reports

We have been busy writing informational reports this month! We researched various animals on Pebble Go and then used the information we found to write a report. The reports include diagrams, a paragraph about where the animal lives, and a paragraph on what the animal eats. I am very impressed with the work the students have produced! We are working on publishing our reports (sharing them with the class). Some reports might come home on Friday, while others will not be done until next week.
