During our math time, we talked about how it is important to communicate clearly when explaining an answer to a problem. Students practiced communicating clearly as they took turns making patterns out of shapes and then communicated what shapes and colors their partners would need to make the same pattern.

Our class has been learning about the Olympics. The students picked a country they wanted to represent in our classroom Olympic games. Each country created a flag and learned how many people live in their country.

We had our own Parade of Nations!

We enjoyed a quick dance break!

Our class solved some math problems and then shared our strategies with a partner.

August 15-19

We have had a wonderful first week of school! I am enjoying getting to know your children and we have had fun while reviewing some second grade concepts and getting used to our classroom.

Although we had indoor recess the first day of school, students still had fun playing games and getting to know each other.

Our class discussed how our words matter. We talked about things people might say or do that would hurt others and squeezed some toothpaste out each time we said something mean. When the tube was empty, we said things that would make someone feel good about themselves and tried to put the toothpaste back in the tube. We were unsuccessful and realized that once you say something mean, you can't take it back by saying something nice. We are going to work on being kind to others this year.

Our class reviewed number bonds by playing a game outside!
