Our class has begun learning about the United States Government. We learned about direct democracy and representative democracy. We had the chance to vote as a direct democracy and as a representative democracy. We also began learning about why the United States decided to declare their independence from Great Britain. King George taxed the students and they threw tea into the harbor as a protest.

We enjoyed going outside to look at plants! Students drew a plant and recorded three things they noticed about the plant.

Our class has been discussing metaphors. We acted out metaphors and the rest of the class had to guess what the metaphor was.

Bone white

The apple of my eye

The heart of a lion

We learned about fact families last week! We reviewed what we knew about fact families from second grade and then worked with division and multiplication fact families.

Our class read clues about a person and had to infer who the person was based on the clues from the text. We discovered they were all characters from Peter Pan.

We looked at field guides and drew plants we might find in Indiana.

This group was sad because their plant didn't grow anymore.

We grew seeds in a plastic bag. After we had observed them for a couple of days, we changed the setting of our seed to see if it would continue to grow. Some students put their bag in the refrigerator while others put their bag in a cubby away from the sun.

We enjoyed our ice cream sandwiches! All the students brought back their homework enough days to earn a special prize!
