This past week we worked on fractions in math. We talked about how a fraction is a part of a whole and that the parts of the whole are equal sizes. We practiced by drawing our own fractions, completing worksheets, and using Play-Doh! The students had a lot of fun with the Play-Doh. They were told to make a shape and then split it into equal parts. After practicing fractions with our Play-Doh, we also had a little bit of fun with it.
We are discussing informational reports during writing time. On Thursday we went to the library to research an animal to write about. The students looked up facts about their animals and will begin writing those reports this week. I am excited to see what they come up with!
We are running a bit low on snacks for our afternoon snack time. If you would like to send in a healthy snack for the class we would appreciate it!
Our spelling words for this week are nice, another, love, pretty and only. Next week's words are right, kick, more, most and people.
Thursday is the last day to place a book order for April!
